The International Packaging Press Organisation (IPPO) is to hold the 1st Global Packaging Trends Seminar in association with IPACK-IMA. at IPACK-IMA, Milan on 28 February.

The 1st IPPO Global Packaging Trends Seminar features presentations from eminent experts, seasoned packaging journalists, working daily in the markets of Asia, USA, Colombo and Chile, and is the first in a series of seminars to be held in conjunction with the key global packaging exhibitions.

Formed in 1973, IPPO, the International Packaging Press Organisation, is an independent and non-profit making society of more than 85 professional journalists from 32 countries worldwide specialised in writing and reporting packaging and the packaging supply chain.

One of its core objectives is to promote and co-operate in the international exchange of information to develop closer understanding and links with industry and society.

He has written extensively on the topics of both Sustainability and the Asian Packaging Markets, and is the author of several reports including Asian Sustainable Packaging Legislation: A Compliance Guide, Packaging Drivers in Asia, and a Guide to China’s Packaging Recycling Master-plan (2008-2015).

He is a sought after speaker at packaging conferences on the subjects of Sustainable Packaging and the Asian Packaging Industry, having addressed the US Sustainable Packaging Coalition, San Francisco (2008), Thai Ministry of Industrial Development on Environmental Packaging (2008), Tokyo International Packaging Symposium (2009), FISPAL, Sao Paulo (2010) and recently completed a speaking tour of European cities: Helsinki, Brussels, Amsterdam, Paris & Lund (2010-11).

He has been a regular judge at Asian Packaging Federation packaging awards (1996-2001) Asia Star, and was a World Packaging Organization World Star judge in Tokyo.

He also conducts a sustainable packaging training courses as part of the Professional Packaging Training in Asia education programme.

Lilian Robayo PaezLilián has a professional qualification in Social Communication and Journalism from the Universidad de La Sabana, Bogota, Colombia (1992). Post-graduate Diploma in World Politics at the London School of Economics and Political Science, London, UK (1997). Master Degree in Political Development in Latin America at the London School of Economics and Political Science, London, UK (1998).

She worked as the Editor-in-Chief of the Latin American Converting Magazine “Conversión” from 1999 to 2010 and for the past 13 years has actively participated in converting and packaging technical seminars and tradeshows in Latin America, North America and Europe.

Currently she is Editor-in-Chief of “El Empaque”, a technical trade publication -both printed and online- reaching packaging professionals in 20 countries of Latin America.

She also participated as the academic co-director of the sustainability in packaging technical seminars “Envase Sostenible” (Colombia, 2010 and 2011), and “Envase Sustentable” (Mexico City, 2011)

Maria has a Designers Degree from the Catholic University of Chile and specialized in packaging design and engineering after following specialization courses in packaging, graphic design and packaging engineering in Japan (1984 and 1989), Italy (1986) and Sweden (1990).

She founded VAS Packaging Magazine in 1988, and was Technical Editor until 1990 and Director from 1991-2004.

Now freelancing for packaging for various different publications. Maria also teaches Packaging Design at the main Chilean universities.

She is a speaker at seminars and conferences on packaging innovation and packaging logistics chain. R&D, research and publishes articles on packaging matters. She is a consultant for packaging management.

MEXICO – Carlos Moreno Editor in Chief – EMPAQUE Performance

Carlos MorenoCarlos has 23 years experience as a journalist, including writing special reports on the packaging industries of Canada, France, Israel, Germany and Brazil, and coverage of aspects of packaging relating to the main companies operating in Mexico.

He founded EMPAQUE Performance magazine and Panorama Plastico directory in 1985. He conducts conferences and seminars on the packaging industry for University and Polytechnic students in Mexico and members of the National Chamber of the Pharmaceutical Industry.

 
USA – John Kalkowski

John 500pJohn is the editorial director of Packaging Digest, the U.S. packaging industry’s largest and most influential publication.

John actively covers packaging trends and sustainability issues, speaking and writing on these topics for the magazine, government groups, industry associations, consumer companies and other media.

Before joining Packaging Digest, he worked in marketing and technical management positions for Sun Chemical and Abitibi Consolidated. Prior to that, he worked in editorial and production management positions at several major U.S. newspapers, including the Rocky Mountain News, San Jose Mercury News and the Arizona Republic.

He has a Master’s degree in International Management from the Thunderbird School of Global Management, completed a fellowship in Asian Studies at Chinese University of Hong Kong and a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Nebraska.
