Nestlé owned childhood nutrition brand Gerber has partnered with international recycling company TerraCycle to promote the recycling of baby food packaging.
Parents can join the programme for free by signing up via a page on Gerber’s website. Using a prepaid shipping label, they can send their used packaging to TerraCycle for cleaning and recycling.
“Through this free recycling programme, Gerber is offering parents an easy way to divert waste from landfills by providing a responsible way to dispose of certain hard-to-recycle baby food packaging,” said TerraCycle chief executive and founder, Tom Szaky.
As an added incentive, for every pound of packaging waste sent to TerraCycle through the Gerber Recycling Programme, collectors can earn $1 to donate to a non-profit, school or charitable organisation of their choice.
