Labelling solutions provider Luminer has expanded its manufacturing facility in Lakewood, New Jersey by 20,000 sq ft, making the US plant’s footprint 50,000 sq ft.
The extra space allows for the installation of new extended content label (ECL) production equipment along with quality control and warehouse space improvements.
The seven-figure investment more than doubles the company’s manufacturing capacity for ECL, which is used in pharmaceutical and OTC packaging, and narrow web applications for the cosmetics, food and beverage, and chemicals sectors.
The expansion has allowed Luminer to segregate its quality inspection processes into a 7,000 sq ft climate-controlled production cell, which now has two servo-controlled rewind/inspection units.
It has also provided more warehouse space for the company to store larger inventories of both raw and finished goods, and the ability to dedicate multiple loading docks to both inbound and outbound freight.
Tom Spina, chief executive of Luminer, said: “The additional space gives us ample room for new equipment, broadened capabilities and, of course, future growth as we make continued headway into various markets.”
