Sumitomo (SHI) Demag has confirmed phase two of its 2019 Expansion Plan in support of the US injection moulding market. The latest phase includes the addition of a new facility and tech centre in the Chicago area and a training and demo centre in Anaheim, California.
In February this year, the company completed phase one of the plan, which saw the construction of a 74,500 sq ft facility and tech centre in the Atlanta area.
To expand the company’s presence and capabilities in the Midwest, a 15,300 sq ft facility has opened in Buffalo Grove, Illinois, which includes a training room, offices for sales, service and processing support, plus a large, 8,000+ sq ft tech centre.
The centre will be used for machine demos, mould tests, hands-on training and other processing and application support and development activities.
Sumitomo (SHI) Demag has also partnered with QTM, a thermoplastics distributor located in Anaheim, to open a training and demo centre. The Anaheim facility with be used for material and machine demos for customers as well as hands-on machine training and applications development work with supplier partners.
